MSI Laptop Charger Solutions — Replacement Power Adapters for Every MSI Series

The MSI gaming laptop you're using has suddenly stopped charging, or the power brick has failed during a game. The solution isn't to buy a new laptop but to use the correct adapter. We carry MSI laptop chargers ranging from 120W to 400W, which are produced by the same original equipment manufacturers that MSI itself uses: Delta, Chicony and LITEON. Each of these chargers is listed in full with its precise model number, voltage, current, wattage and connector.

What Is an MSI Laptop Charger — and How Do You Pick the Right One?

This is the fact: all the information you need is given on the label of your old adapter; you only have to look at four numbers.

01 · How It Works

A brick that turns wall power into DC

An AC-to-DC adapter made by MSI converts the power from the mains supply into the voltage that your laptop requires — this is generally 19.5V or 20V. The amount of power measured in watts is equal to the voltage multiplied by the current: for example, an adapter rated at 20V and 16.5A provides 330W. This is why high-performance MSI gaming laptops that have dedicated graphics cards require high-wattage power adapters, since the entire machine uses a great deal more power than an ultrabook.

The 330W ADP-330GB D runs 20V 16.5A — that is the full 330W spec printed on its label.

02 · How to Pick One

Match four specs, in this order

When replacing your MSI laptop charger, make sure that the following four factors match those of your original adapter: the output voltage, the output current, the wattage, and the size as well as the polarity of the DC connector. The safest approach is to match all the details together, that is, the MSI laptop model plus the original adapter model together with the voltage, the current, the wattage and the connector. Adapter model numbers generally begin with "ADP" and are followed by letters and digits.

Two MSI adapters can share wattage but differ in connector — model-specific, not brand-specific.

03 · Safety & Warning Signs

Know when the old one is done

You can tell that an MSI laptop charger is faulty in the following ways: the laptop will stop charging, the power supply will cut off occasionally, the connector will feel loose, the power brick will shut down when under load, or Windows will display the message "AC adapter not recognized". If the cable or connector has visible damage, do not use it anymore and replace it. Using a higher-wattage adapter is not a simple upgrade — it has to meet the laptop's requirements.

Not every MSI laptop charges over USB-C. Most gaming models need their dedicated AC adapter.

MSI Laptop Charger Quality — the OEM-Tier Difference

Here is the thing: MSI does not wind its own transformers. The same factories that make the original bricks make these.

🏭

OEM-Tier Makers

Delta, Chicony and LITEON — the same factories that supply MSI's original adapters.

📏

Spec-Matched

Listed by exact model number, voltage, current, wattage and connector — no generic "fits most" claims.

🔌

Connector-Verified

⚠️

Honest Wattage

We tell you plainly: a higher-wattage brick is not a free upgrade. Match your laptop's requirements.

Why the maker matters

Chicony is a Tier-1 OEM that makes chargers shipped with Acer, MSI, ASUS and Lenovo boxes; Delta and LITEON fill the same role for MSI's higher-wattage bricks. A genuine OEM-tier unit means the same transformer design, the same protection circuits and the same connector tooling as the adapter that came in the box.

Read the label, not the guess

The label on your original adapter carries everything you need: model (ADP-xxx), output voltage, output current and wattage. Compare those four values with the listing before you order — that one habit eliminates nearly every wrong-charger return we see.

MSI Laptop Charger FAQ

What customers actually ask — answered with our published policy terms.

No. MSI laptop chargers are model-specific — two adapters can share wattage but differ in voltage, current or connector size. That is why we list 12 separate models from 120W (GF63 Thin) up to 400W (Titan 18 HX), each matched to its own laptop series. Match the ADP model number on your old charger's label.
Match four things on your original adapter's label: output voltage, output current, wattage, and the DC connector. The safest method is the full string — laptop model + adapter model (usually "ADP" followed by letters and digits) + voltage + current + wattage + connector. Use the Series Finder tool above, or email a photo of your label to support@laptopbatteriesadapters.com and we will confirm the match before you order.
It depends on the model. Thin notebooks like the GF63 run on 120W bricks; mainstream gaming lines (Katana, Pulse) use 200–240W; GE/GP models use 280W; Vector and Creator machines use 330W; the Titan 18 HX ships with a 400W brick. Wattage is printed on the adapter label as volts × amps — for example 20V × 16.5A = 330W.
Over USB-C Power Delivery, a 100W charger is safe on a 65W laptop — charger and laptop negotiate, and the laptop only draws what it needs. For MSI's barrel-connector adapters the rules are different: voltage must match the original, and you should not pick a higher-wattage brick just because it is bigger. The replacement must meet the laptop's required voltage, connector and compatibility specs.
The genuine OEM-tier models made for MSI: Delta, Chicony and LITEON adapters covering 120W–400W. Compatibility is per model, not per brand — a GE76 needs the 280W A18-280P1A, a Vector 16 HX needs the 330W ADP-330GB D, and the two do not swap. Check the connector and part number before ordering.
Only if your specific model supports USB-C Power Delivery. Some MSI laptops do, but most gaming models rely on their dedicated AC adapter and cannot charge over USB-C. Check your model's spec sheet first. If yours supports PD, a USB-C PD charger can top it up in a pinch, but it is not a long-term replacement for the matched adapter.
The usual suspects: a failing adapter, a worn DC plug, a damaged cable, or a driver-level hiccup. Start with the cheapest checks — try a different wall outlet, reseat the connector, and see whether the charging LED comes on. If the LED stays dark, the adapter is the prime suspect: compare its label with a matching replacement. If a new adapter does not fix it, the DC jack or charging circuit may need service.
Look at the charging LED near the power port (or on the front edge, depending on the model) — it lights while charging. In Windows, the battery icon shows "plugged in" with a charging percentage. If the LED stays dark with the adapter connected and the icon shows no charging, the adapter or jack is likely at fault.
Check whether MSI's battery health feature is capping the charge — MSI Center on many models limits charging to 80% to extend battery life, and that is by design, not a fault. If that setting is off and the laptop still will not reach 100%, the battery is aging or the adapter is under-delivering — a matched replacement adapter is the place to start.
Right here — browse all 12 MSI laptop charger models, from 120W to 400W. Every listing shows the exact model number, voltage, wattage and compatible laptop series, all covered by our 1-year replacement warranty and 60-day returns. Not sure which fits?
